Flying can be fun. Jetting off from one place to the next has a lot of excitement to it and though it's always fun to explore new restaurants and food wherever you're going, the one thing you don't want to explore is airline food. Things brought up into the skies tend to have a bit more sodium (and airplanes already make your body swell) and even though more and more airlines are carrying healthier snacks, sometimes they run out or if you're someone with dietary restrictions they won't fit all your needs. I'll generally make a sandwich the night before to take on the plane or if I make some thing for dinner the night before and it's travel friendly I'll pack that up. But let's face it, snacks are where it's at, so I'm always sure to have many on hand. Even if I don't eat them all on the plane they always come in handy whenever I reach my destination. Exploring makes a girl hungry!! Here are some of my favorite things to bring along:
A few more in flight tips:1. MOISTURIZE. Slather it on before you get on and keep a travel size bottle in your carry on to reapply at least once during your flight and again when you land. Your skin gets incredibly dehydrated while flying.2. Stay hydrated. Back to that dehydration... Drink plenty of water and try to refrain from the inflight coffee and tea (it's never good anyway). It helps to pick up a bottle or two of smart water in the airport before you fly since purified water keeps you less thirsty and more replenished. It may be expensive in the terminal but it's worth keeping your health (and beauty) on track.3. Reapply on the fly: when flying I try to keep my makeup to a minimum since it can cause excess drying. A girl of course wants to look presentable though so I'll often just put on a little shadow, my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer (yay for more moisture!) and a little lip sheer. I then keep a travel size honest baby wipes in my carry on so when I land or when I get to the hotel (depending on how fast you have to get to and event), I can wipe of the minimal makeup, refresh my face, MOISTURIZE and put on my every day (or night) makeup. What essential things do you do when you travel?
My every morning coffee of choice as you all know is this Pup-Saving Brand but throughout the rest of the day or if I'm in a hurry I always make sure to have my fridge stocked with a couple of cold brews. My new obsession is from a local complany called Venice Cold Brew. You know these guys are the real deal because that's all they do. No french press, no whole beans, just COLD BREW. Why? They wanted to do one thing and do it right. Thankfully for them that really worked out. This stuff is next level. Super smooth, super tasty and super adorable in this cute friendly-looking bottle. Their motto? Take Your Coffee With Sunshine. How can you resist a brand like that? Starting this month they're offering a cold brew with almond milk option making it even easier if you're on the go!

Going off of sugar is hard. REALLY HARD. Especially if you cut out sugar's cousins - maple syrup, agave and honey. So when you come across something that gives you a taste of what you used to know but doesn't harm your health it's a pretty exciting day.
This unsweetened chocolate hazelnut butter from ChocoVivo is the perfect little chocolate fix you sometimes need after a meal. (You know the feeling;)) It satisfies the sweet tooth without the headache or the love handles:)
(to the right is Cocoa Salt. Also pretty exciting!)
I spent most of my life avoiding fats in food, even the so-called healthy ones. People & articles could tell me "healthy fats" were important to losing weight all they wanted but I knew that though "healthy" they would make me gain it. It wasn't until I went to an allergist, Dr. Susanne Bennett, that my assumption was proven correct. My body just wasn't very good at processing fat. She then gave me this wonderful supplement that helps my body break it down so now I can have all that olive oil, avocados and almonds I want. I just pop 2 before every meal. If you find you have a similar issue, it's definitely worth asking your doctor or allergist about it!
The food here is delicious, there is no denying that, but the wine list really won over my heart. Everything is either organic, biodynamic, sustainable or a combination of the three. Mixed with the gorgeous atmosphere, including an outdoor terrace equipped with sparkling lights and greenery, A.O.C is definitely on the top of my list these days!
Juice Bars are popping up everywhere these days but not only can they be pricey, you have no real assurance on how thoroughly they wash their fruits & vegetables which can leave you exposed to pesticides, e.coli and mold. Yuck, right? Sure you can make your own green juice at home but, for anyone who’s ever cleaned a juicer, you know purchasing it is far simpler. Thankfully there is a solution! Greens First is a delicious green juice powder with all the nutrients and then some that you’d get from a traditional green juice. Just do a scoop with 8 oz of water every morning. Each serving has over 15 servings of fruits & vegetables and helps alkalize your body leading to healthier skin and more energy. To make it even better, each serving will only cost you around $1 plus it tastes great! I do one every morning when I wake up then give it at least 15 min before I eat breakfast so my body has a chance to absorb all the nutrients. xo
